I am constantly asked by parents for suggestions on how or what to dress their children in for the portrait session. Another photographer has come out with a great idea to have a brochure to help parents choose clothes, I really liked this idea but thought placing it on my blog would be more convenient. The choice of clothing makes a huge impact in how your images will look. You need to take into consideration what style you are looking for in the final images, whether it be classic, fun, contemporary, funky, vintage, etc... For this post I will be recommending clothing for siblings, although each outfit would look great on it's own.
Please click on each image to see it larger.
You will notice that I chose simple like colored outfits, which help to focus on the child (children). Do not be afraid of patterns, although please stick to one pattern, do not mix plaids with stripes, or polka dots with florals, unless you are going for a more eclectic funky image. I chose these outfits from 7 different clothing stores, which I just love, Old Navy, GapKids, Gymboree, Pumpkin Patch USA, Limited Too, Children's Place, and Hannah Anderson. Don't feel obligated to spend an arm and a leg on the outfits, Walmart and Target have plenty of adorable clothes too, I just used these stores because of the ease of ordering.
Remember that I am here to help you choose the clothing for your portrait session!
