Baby's Got Blue Eyes!

Miss Ava has the bluest eyes I have ever photographed (no photoshop magic required)! She was a ton of fun to photograph, but man was she fast with her new found skill, Walking! I was up for the challenge and was able to get quite a few adorable smiles.

I'm a sucker for the pensive looks that I get from children, especially the littlest ones. I would love to know what she is thinking!
Thank you Miss Ava for coming to visit, next time bring that older brother too!

She came back for more

My senior representative from Wilber-Clatonia came in for her studio session. I had a blast trying a few different things. Notice the backdrop on the first one, it is my new "Seventeen" inspired background.

Miss Natalie

Itty Bitty Baby Natalie came to visit yesterday, with her big sister, for her first photo session. Don't let her size fool you, she is quite feisty and really wanted to stay awake the whole time, but I was able to steal a couple shots with her eyes closed.
I'm sure her sweet big sister will be a wonderful guardian angel, watching over Natalie How's this for the most stylin' little two week old piggies!?!

Please Excuse the Mess!

If you have ever had the "pleasure" of visiting my house to pick up your images or to place an order you have probably heard me say "Please Excuse the Mess". Our house is in the constant stage of demolition ( it's not because of the 5 kids although I would feel better if it was!!) and remodel, so there is always some kind of building supply laying around or project going on. Well my Website is much like our house, except I plan on getting it done in a more timely fashion!! So with that said, Please Excuse the mess and strange looking site while I am busy trying to get all the Kinks and Bugs worked out!
Projects for tonight-
1. get new music to play
2. update gallery images
3. make new header for blog

Mr. Photogenic

I had the sweetest, most smiley 2 year old come to visit today. I usually expect to have 5-10 "throw away" images from toddler sessions, because of awkward expressions, them moving to fast for the camera, images of the back of their heads, etc... , but I only had 1 that needed to be tossed and it was because he blinked. He was so entertaining, with such expressive eyes and a gorgeous smile. He wins the prize for being the most photogenic 2 year old I have ever photographed.

Thank you Amanda for bringing in your adorable little boy, it was an absolute pleasure to meet the two of you!

Summer Reminder

Since the weather is heating up outside I wanted to post a reminder of how hot our vehicles can get and the dangers of leaving or having a child get into an unattended car. I can't even imagine the pain of losing a child but fellow photographer, Sheye Rosemeyer, has taken that grief and launched a campaign to ensure other children do not ever perish in the way Little Ava did. Please click on the image below to enlarge the information for easier reading.

First Day of Summer Wedding

Gorgeous day for a sweet little ceremony. I like to do images of the wedding rings at every wedding, and each time I try to incorporate something unique and personal into the shots. This Bible has been passed down for 4 generations and 4 Brides have carried it during their wedding. I think that makes it very unique!
Adorable Miss Autumn , the flower girl, I think I have as many shots of her as I do the couple.
Their sweet little boy, was not into having his photograph taken. He sure did try to find that "tractor" in my camera though! I can't think of too many things that are cuter than a 2 year old in little wranglers and a bolo tie? Lady in Red! A bride in red makes for a very unique wedding and images. Congratulations Jason and Colleen!

Simply Gorgeous!

Are these two not, the most gorgeous sisters you have ever seen? Such sweet and well-behaved little girls too! The black and white didn't show just how beautiful their blonde hair and brown eyes are so I am also showing this image in color.

Baby Grady

Meet Mr. Wide-awake, Grady! I think this little guy was afraid he might miss out on something if he closed his eyes. So he decided to stay awake the whole session. Even when his mom and I thought he was finally going to doze off he decided to keep at least one eye open, probably keeping an eye on the crazy lady with the camera who kept flashing bright lights at him. This is the only image of him with his eyes closed, don't let it fool you, it was captured during a blink.
I love his little "kissie lips".
Melissa and Jeremy, thank you for allowing me to photograph your sweet little boy.

Location Scouting

I went out yesterday looking for new locations, for upcoming sessions, with one of my little muses. I found a few great spots, but my model was less than cooperative.
I did manage to get one smiling image!
See the new logo up there on the images? That is a sneak peek of the colors and theme for the new website! Keep an eye out for the unveiling of my new Children Portrait Photography site (just a few more changes needed) and watch for the special offers that will go along with it!

Enjoy your weekend!

Just wanted to wish all the Dad's out there a Happy Father's Day!
I thought I would share an image of "my boys" from a few years ago. No it is not of my 3 sons, it is of my Handsome (and younger) Better-Half and my gorgeous boys. I only had my studio lights for a few months at this time and you can tell they were already tired of posing for me, but it is one of my favorites.Happy Father's Day Bryan, you are one of the best father's I know!
I have to let you all in on a little bit of "our" history. See Bryan is 6 years younger than me and was just crazy enough to marry someone that already had 4 kids. He is the fun, goofy, run through the sprinkler, play catch, wrestle on the bed, roller coaster riding, kind of Dad.
Mackenzie summed it up very well a couple weeks ago when she told me "That they couldn't get a better step-dad even if they tried!" I don't remember what we were talking about at the time but when she said that it made me tear up a little, because I think she is exactly right!

I am so excited!

I just found out that I will be able to have new music on my new website. Two awesome musicians have so generously agreed to allow me to have their music play on my sites. I will announce the names and details of these musicians when the website goes live, but I just had to share my excitement with you. I have busy this week working on the new website and getting my studio put back together. Many new changes to come in the next week or two!
I am still looking for a few "Models" for the new website, so if you are interested check out the blog entry a few down from this one to get the details and give me a call (402-239-8922) to set up an appointment!

Custom Portrait Information

I stumbled across this awesome site that I believe is a must read for anyone interested in having a custom portrait session done, be it with me or another custom photographer. The author is so much better with words than I could ever be, but she was able to express exactly how I feel about what I do and why I choose to offer custom photography sessions tailored to each client.

Choosing Clothing Part 1

I am constantly asked by parents for suggestions on how or what to dress their children in for the portrait session. Another photographer has come out with a great idea to have a brochure to help parents choose clothes, I really liked this idea but thought placing it on my blog would be more convenient. The choice of clothing makes a huge impact in how your images will look. You need to take into consideration what style you are looking for in the final images, whether it be classic, fun, contemporary, funky, vintage, etc... For this post I will be recommending clothing for siblings, although each outfit would look great on it's own.
Please click on each image to see it larger.

You will notice that I chose simple like colored outfits, which help to focus on the child (children). Do not be afraid of patterns, although please stick to one pattern, do not mix plaids with stripes, or polka dots with florals, unless you are going for a more eclectic funky image. I chose these outfits from 7 different clothing stores, which I just love, Old Navy, GapKids, Gymboree, Pumpkin Patch USA, Limited Too, Children's Place, and Hannah Anderson. Don't feel obligated to spend an arm and a leg on the outfits, Walmart and Target have plenty of adorable clothes too, I just used these stores because of the ease of ordering.
Remember that I am here to help you choose the clothing for your portrait session!

Cute and Cuter!

These two are too cute! And thanks to their crazy dad and all his hard work, jumping around and getting them to smile, I was able to get some very cute expressions from them.

Three Sisters

I've been photographing these sweet girls since the oldest was 3, so it is pretty cool to watch them grow up in front of my camera. They each have different and unique personalities which I think shows through in the first image. I'm sure their mom left thinking we didn't get anything, but I can reassure her that I have quite a few to choose from.

Thank you Misses M, M, and K for letting me photograph you again. You may have made me (and your Mom and Dad) work hard for these images it was all worth it!
