Some of you may be aware that my oldest daughter was born with Spina Bifida, which means cleft spine, an incomplete closure in the spinal column. There are an estimated 70,000 people in the United States are currently living with Spina Bifida, the most common permanently disabling birth defect. People with Spina Bifida may also deal with hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain), full or partial paralysis, bladder and bowel control difficulties, learning disabilities, depression, latex allergy, and social and sexual issues. The Spina Bifida Association of Nebraska http://www.spinabifidanebraska.org/ is organizing a Wine tasting Gala on October 26, 2007. At this Gala I will have a table available displaying my images as I have started a new project to help showcase the individuality of Spina Bifida. I will be photographing any child or adult with Spina Bifida to be included in a book, that will hopefully tie into the already released video " A Journey of Wonder". If you would like more information about Spina Bifida or information on how you can help with this project or the Gala please visit the SBAN's website or contact me at courtneycrumrine@hotmail.com.
And because this is my photo blog I'll add a couple images.
This one is of the beautiful Amanda, one amazing kid.
