Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Day

Many of you know that I have been deeply touched by the program Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and the babies that have been lost. Since today is National Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Day I thought it would be fitting to remember the parents and children that have been served by this wonderful program. This program was started by one photographer Sam Puc' , one mother Cheryl Haggard, and the memory of Maddux Haggard in April 2005. In only 3 short years the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) has grown to include more than 5,000 volunteer photographers in the United States and nineteen International countries. At a family's request, a NILMDTS Affiliated Photographer will come into the hospital or hospice location and conduct a sensitive and private portrait session. The portraits are then professionally retouched and presented to the families on an archival DVD or CD that can be used to print portraits of their cherished baby.

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of these adorable little guys and was so excited to hear that they had arrived safe and sound. Our session may have taken twice as

much time, twice the work, and twice the patience but the end result was definetely two times more rewarding.

Spina Bifida Month

October is National Spina Bifida Month. Spina Bifida means cleft spine, which is an incomplete closure in the spinal column. Approximately 40% of all Americans may have spina bifida occulta, but because they experience little or no symptoms, very few of them ever know that they have it. Children and Adults living with Spina Bifida may have muscle weakness or paralysis below the area of the spine where the incomplete closure (or cleft) occurs, loss of sensation below the cleft, and loss of bowel and bladder control. Most cases, but not all, can be prevented if women who can get pregnant take .4 mg of folic acid daily before and during pregnancy.

My daughter was born with Spina Bifida and we are members of Spina Bifida Nebraska. This Friday we are having the 3rd Annual Gala event. This year it will be held at Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs. More Fun than a Barrel of Monkeys!!

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had during Quintin's sessions. Yes I said

sessions, he wanted some from down where he lives and then came up for his indoor

session. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard. He is very into drama

and music and it was as if he was on stage the whole session.

Husker Kids

All their grandma wanted was an image of all 4 of them together. It was quite a bit of work but I think we got a few to choose from. I really wanted to share the individual images.

Mr. Personality, tries to make everyone laugh and is full of crazy antics.

Mr. GQ, could have smiled and posed for the camera all day.
Mr. Definitely 2, had his own ideas on how the photoshoot should go, but was so

darn cute and funny.

Little Miss Go-Getter, already knows how to keep up with the big boys.

Meet Owen

Owen is too cute! He is also very verbal and all boy. Did I mention he is 2? That would explain the workout I got from his session this morning. Who needs the gym, I say bring on the 2 year old boys! Thank you for coming in to play, um, I mean be photographed.

He brought his best friend in for a few images too. This one is just too cute, a little boy

and his cow-cow.

Define Happiness

The definition for happiness seems to fit these three kids images perfectly. The expressions on their faces seem to mimic the words beneath them, Miss K was a joy to work with, Mr. B was as happy as could be outside checking out the "ducks", looking for deer, and watching the geese, and Miss H's expression is pure contentment. I hope this storyboard sneak peek is enough to hold you over, Candy. I promise your images will be done soon.

Cole Senior '09

Cole is quite the outdoorsman, with his hunting, trapping, and competitive shooting

hobbies he had plenty of "stuff" to include in his Senior Portraits. I really enjoyed photographing him at his home and surrounding property, which is just gorgeous. It was a pleasure to make his portrait experience completely customized.

Jessica Senior '09

I really worried about the available light, the wind, and whether or not we would get some sprinkles, before this session, but luckily the weather held out and we were able to go to a couple different locations. I am posting more than I normally do for sneak peeks but I really couldn't choose the ones to showcase. Thank you for choosing Crumrine Photography for your Senior Portraits, I had a great time!

You may have noticed the holiday decorations appearing in your local business and if you are like me you wonder if they start putting that stuff out earlier and earlier each year. Unfortunately I am having to think about the holidays and getting ready to provide all the Christmas Cards and gifts for my wonderful customers. As I looked at my calender today I noticed the limited number of appointments I have available. I have become almost booked up for the rest of the year and only have a few dates left. If you want to get your session in for Christmas cards and gifts please hurry to make your appointments.

Sweet Miss Baileigh

I had the pleasure of photographing Miss Baileigh, not once but twice last week. Due to some technical difficulties I invited her back for a second session. Both her mom and I were much more satisfied with how the session went and I am so happy with the images. She was a little doll, with her big brown eyes and blond curls.

We found a caterpillar crawling in the grass and she was very interested in it. I am happy to say that even though the poor little thing was well loved and inspected by Miss Bailey it was last seen crawling away in the opposite direction!

Don't they make the most adorable little family? In a few short weeks Mr. T will get the chance to meet that little sister in there.
